To win an Oscar is an achievement at any age. To do so at 22, like Jennifer Lawrence, is just amazing. Recently, the American star won Best Actress at this year's Academy Awards for her role in the film Silver Linings Playbook. According to Time magazine's Richard Corliss, Lawrence is a rare young actress who lends mature intelligence to any role.
Though Lawrence has found great success through her big screen work, she wasn't sure what she really liked doing before the age of 14.She thought she'd go to college and maybe find a career as a doctor or a travel agent.
Lawrence's two brothers were star athletes and one of them was a straight-A student. Unlike them, she suffered through school, never finding where she belonged. However, during a trip to New York, Lawrence suddenly realized that she wanted to be an actress. When she was enjoying the beautiful city, a model seeker asked if he could take her picture, and the next day he called her in for an audition (試鏡).
“I read the script and it was the first time I had that feeling like I understand this,”Lawrence said.“Within 20 minutes in the cab ride from the hotel, I decided I didn't want to be a model. In fact, I wanted to be an actress.” Having appreciated this young lady's performance, the agency was so impressed with her reading that they signed her on the spot. But she insisted on finishing high school so she could pay her full attention to her acting career.
Lawrence burst onto the Hollywood scene last year with The Hunger Games, which established her as the highest grossing (票房最高的) female action hero of all time. Rolling Stone called her “the most talented young actress in America”.

While Wisconsin is blessed with many natural areas, our wildlife still faces several threats over the long term.
First because our population is growing and our cities are spreading into the countryside, fewer natural wildlife habitat areas are left each year. Some wildlife species, such as deer, rabbits and chipmunks, are adaptable to many conditions, but other creatures have very specific plant, moisture and temperature requirements. These are the endangered species which we risk losing if we don't preserve enough amounts of habitat for their survival.
Next, because many types of plants and animals have specific habitat requirements, climate change could cause disastrous losses of wildlife species from Wisconsin. A one or two degree change in average annual temperature will translate into large changes in Wisconsin, affecting snow cover in the winter and excess heat in the summer. Plants and wildlife are sensitive to moisture changes, so they will be harmed by this dryness. Unfortunately, trees and plants can't simply pick up and move to a more hospitable location. Instead, they will die where they stand, exposing and starving the wildlife that depend on them. Drought tolerant plants and trees will gradually spread to replace them by seed, but this process takes time. In many parts of Wisconsin, natural habitat is chopped up and isolated in small islands.
In addition, over the past 150 years, many non-native plants, mollusks(軟體動(dòng)物), insects, fish, birds, mammals, and diseases have found their way to Wisconsin. These “aliens” are often aggressive competitors with native wildlife, especially after they've left their own natural environments and controls.
Last but not least, some native wildlife can become a problem when released from their natural population controls. When wolves are scarce and hunters too few,white-tailed deer will often strip(剝奪) the woods of native wildflowers and even certain tree species, when their populations are allowed to become too high. Canada geese are beautiful birds, but when city people feed native geese as if they were pets, their populations can rise to uncomfortable levels in urban areas, resulting in polluted waterways and manure-laden lawns.
