dominant, predominant, sovereign
這些形容詞均含有占優(yōu)勢的，支配其它的之意。
dominant : 強調(diào)權(quán)威。
The British were formerly dominant in India.(英國人從前統(tǒng)治印度。)
predominant : 側(cè)重指影響與新近的優(yōu)勢。
The predominant feature of his character was pride.(他的性格中主要的特點是驕傲。)
sovereign : 側(cè)重指其他事物都從屬于或低于它的。
