One day a rich father took his young son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose to show him how poor people can be. They spent a day and night in the farm of a very poor family. When they got back from their trip the father asked his son, how was the trip?
一天，一位富有的父親帶著他的小兒子去鄉(xiāng)下旅行，打算讓他見(jiàn)識(shí)一下窮人的生活。他們?cè)谝粦?hù)非常貧窮人家的農(nóng)場(chǎng)里住了一天一夜。旅行回來(lái)之后，父親問(wèn)兒子：你覺(jué)得這次旅行怎樣?
Very good, Dad!

Did you see how poor people can be? the father asked.
你看到窮人的生活了嗎?父親問(wèn)道。
Yeah! And what did you learn?
是的!那你從中學(xué)到了什么呢?
The son answered, I saw that we have a dog at home, and they have four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of the garden; they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lamps in the garden; they have the stars. Our patio reaches to the front yard; they have a whole horizon.
兒子回答道：我看到我們家只有一只狗，而他們家有四只。我們的游泳池一直延伸到花園中間，而他們的小溪沒(méi)有盡頭。我們?cè)诨▓@里裝了進(jìn)口燈具，而他們有滿(mǎn)天星斗。我們的天井接著前院，而他們擁有整個(gè)地平線(xiàn)。
When the little boy was finishing, his father was speechless.
當(dāng)小男孩說(shuō)完的時(shí)候，他的父親目瞪口呆。
His son added, Thanks, dad, for showing me how poor we are!
他的兒子接著又補(bǔ)充道：謝謝爸爸讓我看到我們是多么貧窮!
